African leaders and their counterparts from Europe are gathered in Brussels, Belgium for the two days African Union – European Union (AU-EU) Summit opened today focusing on investment.
Among the attendees are Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed of Ethiopia, President Macky Sall of Senegal, who is also the current chairman of African Union, and several leaders from African countries. The meeting is expected to focus on boosting European investment in Africa. The leaders of the two continents have also discussed issues related to the fight against terrorism in the Sahel.
The among the issue the leaders of the two continents are also expected to discuss include fresh starting their relationships on economic and political fronts mainly advancing the stuck trade negotiations, peace and security.

The aim is to launch an ambitious Africa-Europe Investment Package, taking into account global challenges such as climate change and the current health crisis. The discussions also focus on tools and solutions to promote stability and security through a renewed peace and security architecture.
