Reach for Change Ethiopia is hosting Ethiopian EdTech Week with the aim to engage on the bold innovations in learning and catalyze collaboration across the education technology sector.
Ethiopian EdTech Week 2025 also serves to commemorate the graduation of the first cohort of the Mastercard Foundation EdTech Fellowship in the country. The Fellowship is an entrepreneurship acceleration program designed to support promising African EdTech enterprises. In Ethiopia, it is supporting 36 EdTech enterprises over a three-year term.
As the implementing partner in Ethiopia, Reach for Change has worked with 11 visionary Ethiopian-owned enterprises to provide them with financial and business support, coaching, exposure to global learning science, and access to networks that prepare them to scale sustainably. During the 12-month acceleration period, the EdTech Fellows’ innovations reached 255,217 learners in Ethiopia.
“This week is more than a graduation — it’s a celebration of vision, resilience, and a glimpse of the future for tech-based inclusive learning in Ethiopia. Our first cohort of Fellows have not only developed groundbreaking solutions, but they’ve reached thousands of learners, including girls and young women who need equal opportunity to unleash their potential. Their impact is a reflection of what’s possible when innovation meets purpose”, said Mekdim Gullilat, Country Manager, Reach for Change, Ethiopia.
“The graduating cohort of the Mastercard Foundation EdTech Fellowship in Ethiopia brings the number of Fellows whose solutions were accelerated in 2024 to 92. In total, 141 EdTech solutions from over nine African countries have been developed since the Mastercard Foundation EdTech Fellowship kicked off in 2019. Collectively, these solutions have now reached over 4.4 million learners, with 255,217 learners in Ethiopia, including those in underserved areas,” said Mefthe Tadesse, Country Director, Ethiopia, at the Mastercard Foundation.
Reach for Change supports social entrepreneurs at all stages of development and improves ecosystems for social innovation. Founded in Sweden in 2010, the organization has supported over 2,000 change leaders in 18 countries across Europe, Africa, and Asia, positively impacting over 4.7 million children and youth. In Ethiopia, the organization works to build a thriving ecosystem for inclusive education and entrepreneurship.
